ABOUT ME

Welcome to my website!

For more than two decades I have written music for feature films and animation, documentaries, TV shows and countless commercials, as well as concert music, music for ballet and theater. I have collaborated with the some of the most talented musicians and instrumentalists and I’m proud to call many of them my friends and I have been fortunate to record and conduct orchestral sessions all over the world, including Europe, China, the middle east and the US.

There is nothing more exciting than working with directors, animators, producers or choreographers and together to find a fresh musical sound and voice for their creations, whether electronic, orchestral or a mix of both.

I am currently finishing the score to the feature documentary For The Living, directed by Marc Bennett and Tim Roper, dealing with genocides and dehumanization. The orchestral score was recorded with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and features some brilliant solo players. This is my second collaboration with Marc after the award winning The Tattooed Torah - an animated, holocaust tale based on a children's book and narrated by veteran actor Ed Asner. Supported by Spielberg's USC Shoah Foundation, the film has been dubbed and translated into several languages and features a score written for large orchestra, soloists and choir.

My feature film work began In 2001, when he was brought aboard as score producer for Dover Kosashvili's feature film Late Marriage, the highest-grossing Israeli film of the decade, one of Entertainment Weekly's Ten Best Films of 2002 and Newsweek's Top 15 Films of 2002. Among other highlights is the score for the Chinese 3D sci-fi feature Impossible, which stars several of the China’s biggest stars, and The Trouble With Bliss, starring Michael C. Hall (Dexter), Lucy Liu (Elementary, Charlie’s Angels), the late Peter Fonda (Easy Rider), academy award winner Brie Larson (Room, 21 Jump Street) and Chris Messina (Vicky Cristina Barcelona). The film’s score was released on the Sony Classical label.

And, if you’re stumped regarding my last name, it’s origins are Sepharadic-Jewish-French, and pronounced al-SHEA (like the butter).

I’d love to hear from you! Hopefully we get the chance to create something special together.
